Omnicom Engineering’s OmniVision system has won the Asset Management category at this year’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Innovation Awards.
OmniVision uses image capture and machine vision technology to provide automated inspection of railway infrastructure.
The system’s high resolution images can even be captured and beamed back to a central office while travelling at speeds of 125mph.
Commenting on the importance of recognition in the field, the judges said:” “The need for asset intensive industries to collect and interpret asset condition information as part of its asset management activity is imperative”.
Omnicom chief executive Stirling Kimkeran said “It’s great to see Omnicom’s innovation in the rail industry being recognised with this international award. I would like to thank everyone involved in the project. It’s an exciting time to be working in a technology driven sector.”
Established in 1995, Omnicom specialises in developing survey and inspection systems for a variety of industrial sectors.
