Network Certification Body appoints George Bearfield as non-exec director

Dr George Bearfield has been appointed as non-executive director of Network Certification Body (NCB).

George has 25 years of experience in safety assurance and engineering and is currently health & safety director at Rock Rail, with responsibility for Rock Rail’s safety management systems including safety assurance responsibilities for all fleets under its management.

He was previously the director of system safety and health at RSSB, where he was responsible for the work to support the rail industry in all aspects of its health and safety management and assurance processes and capabilities. George also played a key role in the setting of the national rail health and safety strategy and in delivering associated programmes, including sponsoring the successful relaunch of the national supplier qualification scheme, RISQS, in 2018.

Talking of his appointment, George said: “Robust and dependable technical assurance is absolutely essential to the railway and, since its inception, NCB has proven itself as one of the key players in this field.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the board of NCB and its executive on continuing that journey and ensuring that NCB continues to provide its customers with the assurance they need as the railway evolves for the future.”

George Bearfield.

Formed in 2012, NCB delivers railway assurance and certification services with a team of over 50 railway engineers.  With an average of 200 rail projects being delivered at any one time, NCB’s engineers are based across the UK to ensure they offer exceptional levels of customer service.

NCB is accredited as a Notified Body, Designated Body, Assessment Body, Plant Assessment Body and an Entities in Charge of Maintenance Certification Body to give an unrivalled level of services across the railway system, both in the UK and worldwide.
