Like many other charities in this time of Covid-19 and lockdown, Railway Children has had to cancel or postpone all their events this year including their popular Three Peaks Challenge by Rail.

This is a major blow as the funds from these events help Railway Children fight for vulnerable children who live alone at risk on the streets, where they suffer abuse and exploitation. In the UK, society often denies their existence, and in other countries the problem is so prevalent that it has become ‘normal’.

Children and young people run away or are forced to leave home where they suffer poverty, violence, abuse and neglect. They find themselves living on the streets because there is nowhere else to go and no one left to turn to. The problems they face on the streets are often even worse than those they endured at home.

As an alternative to its regular events, the charity has put together a collection of suggestions that will help change lives and brighten up the working day.

So, if you’re running out of things to do in these strange times and need some inspiration, get on board for The QuaranTeam Challenge. Just because you’re not in the office, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with your colleagues and together you can make a big difference to children now facing more difficulties than ever.

You can choose what, when and how you do it. Fancy dress for your next Zoom meeting? Calculate and donate the money you’re saving on commuting? Declutter the house now you have to use it as a home office? The options are endless but they have plenty of ideas to get you started.

Katie Mason, Railway Children’s Events Manager, said: “Our events calendar is looking very different this year. Until we can get back on the mountains, the QuaranTeam Challenge is a great way for the many companies and individuals who support our events to continue to help the vulnerable children around the world who are fighting to survive these difficult times in extremely challenging circumstances.”
