Rail Wellbeing Live is a new online event that will take place on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 November 2020.
This free, virtual health and wellbeing event is for everyone who works in the rail industry. Through a range of presentations, livestreams and workshops, it has been created to inspire those in rail to lead a healthier life.
Hosted by a mix of wellbeing experts, rail people and some surprising famous faces, everyone gets the chance to take part in a range of activities including:
- Meet our doctor of happiness;
- Find time for the sweary scientist!
- Discover how to get a great night’s sleep;
- Follow guided workshops in tai chi, yoga, and mindfulness;
- Practice simple exercises to help with back pain;
- Learn how to live without beer for a year;
- Attend money worries workshops.
Registration is open now at www.railwellbeinglive.co.uk .
John Halsall, chair of the Rail Wellbeing Alliance, and managing director of the Southern region of Network Rail, explained why the event is so important: “Rail Wellbeing Live will help to get health and wellbeing to the top of the agenda where it belongs.
“When there is a serious safety incident everyone rightly challenges, and learns from it, but when someone suffers because they are physically unfit or due to mental health problems, there is not as much thought. Too often we shrug our shoulders and move on in the same way as we would have 50 years ago with a workforce accident.
“Rail Wellbeing Live will change this way of thinking.”
To get the industry talking about their health and wellbeing, there will be a series of fortnightly livestreams on Wednesdays during September and October. Wellbeing Wednesdays will cover a range of topics from happiness and fatigue to the benefits of laughing during yoga!
Like the main event, the livestreams are free to attend and will be broadcast every Wednesday on the Rail Wellbeing website and social channels at 11am. The first, broadcast on Wednesday 2 September, is shown below:
