Chiltern Railways has appointed Michael Stewart as its new Commercial and Customer Strategy Director.
Michael joins Chiltern following 15 years of railway experience at organisations including Network Rail and most recently Avanti West Coast, where he was Revenue Director. He has also worked in the pharmaceutical and communications industries.
He replaces Andy Camp, who will be retiring in December 2024.
Commenting on his appointment, Michael Stewart, Commercial and Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, said:
“I am thrilled to join Chiltern at an exciting time and get out on the network to meet colleagues and customers.
“I believe passionately in the social, economic and societal benefits of rail and making the experience the absolute best that it can be at all points through the customer journey. I’m also excited to become part of Chiltern and Arriva’s continued success.”
Richard Allan, Managing Director of Chiltern Railways, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Michael to Chiltern. His wealth of leadership experience will be crucial to help attract more customers to travel by rail with Chiltern and continue to improve our customer experience.
“I would like to thank Andy Camp for his significant contribution to Chiltern, which includes extending contactless pay as you go to six of our stations in recent months.”
Michael Stewart took over from Andy Camp as Chiltern’s Commercial & Customer Strategy Director on Monday 7 October. Andy will stay with Chiltern until December to work on the revenue business case to replace Chiltern’s oldest trains with younger and more carriages.
