The RailStaff Awards team is truly grateful to its sponsors who make it possible to stage such a spectacular event, year after year. Particular thanks goes to BTTC, who this year took a chance on sponsoring one of our newest award categories.
As a high-performance infrastructure project consultancy founded on the principle that industry can deliver projects โbetter through total collaborationโ, BTTC combines an innovative, collaborative, and pragmatic approach with extensive experience and expertise to help its clients transform the way infrastructure projects are delivered. It empowers and enables its teams to share and mentor, so that it leaves a lasting legacy wherever it works
All this made BTTC an ideal sponsor for the Project Team or Person Award (Under ยฃ5 Million) category, which celebrates individuals or teams who have successfully delivered projects within the rail industry, with a total value under ยฃ5 million.
Alstomโs โThe Greatest Gatheringโ team was ecstatic to be named as the inaugural winner of this brand-new prize, honoured for its work organising the Greatest Gathering celebration, held at Alstomโs Derby Litchurch Lane Works. The event celebrated 200 years of the modern railway with over 40,000 visitors, 140 iconic rail vehicles, STEM activities, rides, and talks.
Organised in-house with hundreds of volunteers, the event balanced heritage and innovation, safety and spectacle, and included the worldโs first Pride parade on a train. The festival united communities, inspired the next generation, raised over ยฃ60,000 for charity, and showcased the UK rail industry at its best.
โJust to be nominated was incredible,โ said Ben Goodwin, director of communications at Alstom.
โWe were a small team, but we made it all happen with the help of the wider industry and the railway family. Yes, this award is for our team, but none of this would have been possible without everybodyโs support.
โItโs amazing that in this 200th year of the railway there is still such passion within the industry, for the past and for the present. But the incredible thing about The Greatest Gathering was how everyone was looking to the future and showcasing what’s coming next.
โWe’re so grateful that everybody shared our vision and got involved, and to have this award is just the icing on the cake!โ
Highly commended:
George Barratt, Network Rail
James Allman-Wright, Network Rail
